Waiting on God
Waiting on God is an invitation to a deeper communion with the TRINITY, a sacred Grace Space where our hearts are molded, our faith is fortified, and our lives are aligned with His will.
"To him the doorkeeper opens, and the sheep listen to his voice, and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out." John 10:3
In these moments of stillness before the Lord, we truly learn to hear His voice, sense His instructions, and feel the overwhelming assurance of His love.
"For He rescued us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation: for by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones, or dominions, or rulers, or authorities—all things have been created through Him and for Him. He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together. He is also the head of the body, the church; and He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so that He Himself will come to have first place in everything. For it was the Father’s good pleasure for all the fullness to dwell in Him, and through Him to reconcile all things to Himself, whether things on earth or things in heaven, having made peace through the blood of His cross. And although you were previously alienated and hostile in attitude, engaged in evil deeds, yet He has now reconciled you in His body of flesh through death, in order to present you before Him holy and blameless and beyond reproach—" Colossians 1:13-22
This waiting isn't about inactivity but a dynamic, vibrant preparation of our hearts for what God will do next.
"And he said to all, 'If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.' “ Luke 9:23
I write to you, my fellow sojourners, as one who has experienced the incredible fruit of this posture of holy expectancy. Let us together embrace the waiting, not as a hindrance but as a profound opportunity for growth and revelation.
"Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth." Psalm 46:10
In these pages, and more importantly, in your personal walk with the Lord, I invite you to lean into the discomfort of not knowing, to find peace in the uncertainty, and to discover the strength that comes only from complete reliance on God's timing.
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight." Proverbs 3:5-6
Remember, the journey of waiting on God is not a solitary one. We walk this path together, supported by the prayers and encouragement of one another, united in our pursuit of a deeper understanding and love for our Savior.
"Therefore, encourage one another and build one another up, just as you also are doing." 1 Corinthians 5:11
Let's hold fast to the promise that those who wait on the Lord will renew their strength; they will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
"Yet those who wait for the Lord Will gain new strength; They will mount up with wings like eagles, They will run and not get tired, They will walk and not become weary." Isaiah 40:31
Waiting on God is working for God. Waiting on God, waiting in His Presence, is where all the work is done. God transforms us into His image, but only when we are HIS, in HIS PRESENCE, waiting upon HIM ALONE. Waiting is trusting, and trusting is waiting. Waiting is confidence, purity, and Holiness.
"Therefore from now on we recognize no one by the flesh; even though we have known Christ by the flesh, yet now we know Him in this way no longer. Therefore if anyone is in Christ, this person is a new creation; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come. Now all these things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation, namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their wrongdoings against them, and He has committed to us the word of reconciliation. Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making an appeal through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. He made Him who knew no sin to be sin in our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him." 2 Corinthians 5:16-21
Waiting on anyone is counter-intuitive. Motivated people want to “do things.” Waiting on God is to deny self and to trust God above self, trusting God to do HIS WORK IN YOU AND THROUGH YOU. Trust me, God can do a much better job, so trust HIM.
"For we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, God’s building." 1 Corinthians 3:9
Waiting on God is the highest and greatest honor. Waiting on God is the highest form of “working for God.” Waiting on God is hard work, and it requires a death, a death to SELF. It requires us to humble ourselves and trust God alone. When we wait on God, we wait for Him to build His House–our HOUSE. We trust Him to build our lives as He designed them.
“Do not let your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many rooms; if that were not so, I would have told you, because I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I am coming again and will take you to Myself, so that where I am, there you also will be." John 14:1-3
Only those SAVED BY GOD and FOR GOD are CALLED, EQUIPPED, and EMPOWERED TO WAIT UPON GOD. God is the only builder. Waiting on God is a calling, an honor, and a high privilege.
"for he was looking for the city which has foundations, whose architect and builder is God." Hebrews 11:10
God has called us, His Children, to co-labor with Him. Can you imagine that the God who created everything for His own pleasure has invited us to co-build with Him?
"Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice!" Philippians 4:4
What an honor and a privilege. Nothing compares to the honor.
"For just as the sufferings of Christ are ours in abundance, so also our comfort is abundant through Christ." 2 Corinthians 1:5
Therefore, be happy to wait upon the Lord, rejoice, and praise Him, because He has invited us to co-build with Him. Since He is the architect and builder, we wait upon Him as He builds His House, which is us.
"I am the vine, you are the branches; the one who remains in Me, and I in him bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing." John 15:5
We can do nothing apart from God and don’t even want to try. So, we wait upon God with expectations of His absolute goodness. The Greater Works of God is Jesus' death, burial, and resurrection life working fully in us and through all of us–His Body–His Bride.
"And looking at them, Jesus said to them, “With people this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” Matthew 19:26
Branches Wait Upon the Vine and the Sap from the Roots
"According to the grace of God which was given to me, like a wise master builder I laid a foundation, and another is building on it. But each person must be careful how he builds on it. For no one can lay a foundation other than the one which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. each one’s work will become evident; for the day will show it because it is to be revealed with fire, and the fire itself will test the quality of each one’s work." 1 Corinthians 3:11-13
God is working to build us a HOUSE.
"And Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because he, too, is a son of Abraham." Luke 19:9
Jesus came as our SALVATION. God is working to build our HOUSE OF SALVATION.
"For every house is built by someone, but the builder of all things is God" Hebrews 3:4
Waiting for God’s Salvation is our greatest privilege and honor.
"And having been perfected, He became the source of eternal salvation for all those who obey Him," Hebrews 5:10
The greatest honor a human can receive is to wait upon the LIVING GOD in hopeful expectation of receiving HIS LOVE!
"for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation." Romans 10:10
We are CALLED TO RECEIVE SALVATION as the greatest gift of all, which only God can bestow upon us.
"For God has not destined us for wrath, but for obtaining salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ," 1 Thessalonians 5:9
God is building a new house, HIS NEW HOUSE, the NEW HUMANITY.
"Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own?" 1 Corinthians 6:19
God, through Jesus Christ, is building HIS HOUSE. We are HIS HOUSE.
"Do you not know that you are a temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?" 1 Corinthians 3:16
Salvation was in Creation. Salvation is our only hope. Salvation comes from God alone. Salvation has been given to us as a FREE GIFT OF GRACE.
"And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation." Mark 16:15
The Gospel of Jesus Christ is SALVATION. Salvation is in Jesus Christ alone.
"For God has not destined us for wrath, but for obtaining salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ," 1 Thessalonians 5:9
Salvation was before creation. Salvation is the reason for creation, which was created because of Salvation and for Salvation. Without Salvation, creation is doomed.
"Or what agreement does the temple of God have with idols? For we are the temple of the living God; just as God said, “I will dwell among them and walk among them; And I will be their God, and they shall be My people. " 2 Corinthians 6:16
Salvation came first. Salvation was BEFORE THE FOUNDATION OF THE WORLD. Think about that… God’s SALVATION came before God’s Creation.
"Therefore if anyone is in Christ, this person is a new creation; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come." 2 Corinthians 5:17
God did not CREATE CREATION until after HE SAVED IT.
"As to this salvation, the prophets who prophesied of the grace that would come to you made careful searches and inquiries," 1 Peter 1:10
Creation was in Salvation
"For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all people," Titus 2:11
We are the New HUMANITY. God is with us and in us ALL. We are the Greater Works of God.
And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us; and we saw His glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth... For of His fullness we have all received, and grace upon grace." John 1:14, 16
Our Salvation understood creation before creation was made. Salvation was made for all of creation. Without Creation, there is no need for Salvation. Without Salvation, creation is doomed.
"He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation: for by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones, or dominions, or rulers, or authorities—all things have been created through Him and for Him. He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together." Colossians 1:15-17
Our Savior IS SALVATION. Our Savior created us for Salvation. In Salvation we were created to display His Image, Love, and absolute goodness.
"that the creation itself also will be set free from its slavery to corruption into the freedom of the glory of the children of God. For we know that the whole creation groans and suffers the pains of childbirth together until now." Romans 8:21-22
Let our Creator utterly SAVE US like HE CREATED US. If He CREATED US, He can CERTAINLY SAVE US. If He can SAVE US, we should let HIM.
"For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them." Ephesians 2:10
We are God’s Greater Works, chosen and predestined since before the foundation of the world. We were chosen in His Salvation before we were created. We were created for HIS GOOD WORKS.
"And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. For those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters; and these whom He predestined, He also called; and these whom He called, He also justified; and these whom He justified, He also glorified." Romans 8:28-30
SALVATION IS ETERNAL, it has no beginning or end. Ponder that for a moment. Yes, we are HIS ETERNAL WORKMANSHIP, HIS MASTERPIECE.
"For You created my innermost parts; You wove me in my mother’s womb." Pslams 139:13
God is working HIS WORKS in us and through us–ALL FOR THE GLORY OF GOD! The painting does not paint itself. The painting magnifies and glorifies the majesty of the painter. We are God’s painting, His MASTERPIECE, His Greater Works.
"By faith we understand that the world has been created by the word of God so that what is seen has not been made out of things that are visible." Hebrews 11:3
THE New Humanity is His Greater Works, the Greater Works of God through Jesus Christ.
"Truly, truly I say to you, the one who believes in Me, the works that I do, he will do also; and greater works than these he will do; because I am going to the Father. And whatever you ask in My name, this I will do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask Me anything in My name, I will do it." John 14:12-14
Our part is to RECEIVE Jesus’s humility by Grace and with thanksgiving praise the Lord. Our part is to WAIT UPON HIM in prayer. Our part is to receive Jesus’ Humility and let Him do His Greater Works through us.
"For the Father loves the Son and shows Him all things that He Himself is doing; and the Father will show Him greater works than these, so that you will be amazed." John 5:20
Our part is to praise Him for everything and in everything continually. Our part is to RECEIVE Him and His Greater Works by Grace as He does the works of God in us and through us.
"But the testimony I have is greater than the testimony of John; for the works which the Father has given Me to accomplish—the very works that I do—testify about Me, that the Father has sent Me." John 5:36
God’s Greater Works is to glorify Himself through us, the New Humanity. We glorify the Father as He glorifies the Son in us and through us–through the Great Works working through our weakness.
"Who is weak without my being weak? Who is led into sin without my intense concern? If I have to boast, I will boast of what pertains to my weakness. he God and Father of the Lord Jesus, He who is blessed forever, knows that I am not lying." 2 Corinthians 11:29-31
